The Zen Commandments: How To Lead A More Positive Life

We all lead incredibly busy and often stressful lives, but that doesn’t mean we have to let the stress get on top of us. Our Zen Commandments will help you to keep your stress in check and lead a happier, more zen life. So, if you’re wanting to control your stress, increase your happiness and end that cycle of overthinking, then follow our Zen Commandments, including zen meditation, for a more chilled-out version of you.

1.Zen Meditation

Zen meditation is one of top tips to help you to control your stress, anger and emotions and help you to live right here in the present moment. Zen meditation is a type of meditation that concentrates on breathing and staying in the present moment.

To start, you’ll want to create relaxing space to give you the best chance of clearing your mind and focusing all of your attention on the present moment.

Aromatherapy Associates have a unique collection of stress-relieving products. Start by taking a bath or shower using the De-Stress Mind Bath & Shower Oil. The blend of Wild Chamomile, Petitgrain and Frankincence will help you to clear your mind, relax and focus your thoughts.

If you need a little extra help to unwind, then get your hands on their Inner Strength Roller Ball and Candle. This relaxing little duo contain a blend of Clary Sage, Cardamom and Frankincense Oils help you to rebalance your emotions, relax and unwind. Simply apply the Roller Ball to your pulse points and light the candle before meditating for a truly rejuvenating experience.

Once you’ve found a comfortable position to sit in, close your eyes and start to breathe through your nose and really focus on your breathing, paying attention to the natural rhythm of your breath. If your mind starts to wander while you meditate, simply redirect your thoughts onto your breathing. After a little practice, you’ll find that you’ll be able to clear your mind and meditate for longer periods of time each time.

2.Stop Asking ‘What If?’

If you often find yourself feeling anxious, you need to stop and think about how often you anticipate the future, basing your thoughts and actions on a potentially negative outcome.

In order to control your stress and feelings of anxiety, you need to focus on the present – not the past or the future.

Once you stop wishing you could change the past and trying to control the future, you’ll be able to lead a much happier, more fulfilled life.

3. Take A Few Moments Out Of Your Day

When you’re rushing around from work to the gym and then the grocery store, then cooking dinner and watching TV your body will be in a constant state of stress. You need to stop and slow down.

You should make sure you take at least ten minutes out of each day to ground yourself and help you to relax and de-stress.

Whether you go for a quick walk instead of working through your lunch break or read your favorite book before you go to bed, it’s essential to take some time out of your day to just do nothing. Clear your mind, stop thinking about your daily tasks and switch off your phone and you’ll soon find yourself feeling more relaxed, calm and happy.

4. Don’t Be Afraid To Say No

How many times have you agreed to something and then were dreading going right up until the day?

Get rid of that feeling of dread by simply saying ‘no’. If someone asks you to go to a party and you don’t want to go, tell them you can’t. When you just say ‘yes’ to people to please them, you end up causing yourself stress.

5. Focus On The Positives

It’s easy to focus on the negative things in life, your computer crashing, an hour-long traffic jam, a breakout on your chin. But instead of focusing on the few things that are going wrong, train your mind to look on the bright side.

Your computer might have crashed, but at least you didn’t lose all of your work and even though you were stuck in traffic for an hour, that was an hour where you got to listen to all of your favorite songs on the radio and even though you might have a small breakout, that means you get to use your favorite spot treatment.

When you train your mind to look at the positives, you’ll start to lead a happier, more positive life.
